LOOKING FOR SIGNS: IDEAS AND IMAGINED CIRCUMSTANCES

The publication, Looking for Signs: ideas and imagined circumstances, accompanied the exhibition by Jimmy Cosgrove (b1939) of new and past works. The exhibition co-curated by Alison Harley, Fraser Taylor and Louise Briggs, explored Cosgrove’s substantive practice as an artist and designer through the presentation of sketchbooks; travel diaries; screen-printed textiles; posters; photographs; drawings; and paintings. Within the publication, a set of commissioned essays and photographs contextualised Cosgrove’s exploration of real and imagined subject matter over some fifty years in the visual arts.
